"Environmental rafts" swim around the stream, Guangzhou citizens experience environmental drift

On September 25, the carnival of environmental protection drifting Liyao Liuxi and the start-up ceremony of guarding Liuxi were held in Dajiangli Village, Conghua Liangkou Town. Villagers, practitioners of environmental protection organizations, environmental experts and other people from all walks of life attended, and together experienced the Pulpboard drifting. "The protection of Liuxi River is not only the responsibility of the government, if the whole river basin can be clear in the future, it is certainly not a strong department or organization to do a lot, more importantly, every ordinary citizen has done something. Governance of rivers and streams can not be achieved by government investment alone, there must be residents along the line, enterprises and territorial governments to cooperate fully. To manage Liu Xi River requires public participation. Protecting the mother river is the common responsibility of every citizen. " Han Zhipeng said.

Because it is located at the source of Liu Xi River, the ecological environment of Dajiang Li village has been well protected over the years. This is the gift of Liuxi River to us. Unfortunately, the lower reaches of the river are not protected and are gradually polluted. " Zhu Zhiming laments that life is getting better and better now, more and more people come to Conghua River to travel, but the riverside also often appears from the upstream drift of garbage. Despite their worries, the villagers can only do their best to protect the "hometown water" of Liuxi River.

In April this year, the Pearl River Water Joint Action put forward the idea of using plastic bottles to build ships to float, and began to look for interested partners, institutions and sponsors. In June, the organizers began to design hull models; in July, 3,000 plastic bottles were collected; after that, more than 80 people were recruited as rafting officers to build five safe, fun-filled and environmentally friendly plastic bottle rafts, which were launched on the day of the launch ceremony. Organizers say the project is not over, and will be followed by collaboration with social workers, schools and other environmental agencies to conduct water education courses, and five environmentally friendly plastic bottle rafts will be used for exhibitions and lectures on different occasions.
